Friendship Cask #1
What is a Laphroaig Ballot?
Our ballot gives Friends of Laphroaig a fair opportunity to purchase one of our most limited whisky releases.
The ballot is open for 24 hours and managed through EQL, an independent platform designed to ensure a fair allocation of the bottles available.
This is not a raffle. A temporary authorisation for the purchase amount will be placed on your payment method. If successful, your purchase will be completed; if not, the authorisation will be released.
Limited Edition
Every so often, a single cask is too good to blend away. Friendship Cask #1 is one of those, and one of our limited edition whiskies.
We matured it in full for 12 years in a single first fill sherry hogshead till the final drop. Discover the new Islay single malt with our famous peat smoke at its heart, enhanced by the rich, dark sweetness of sherry running through it: a savoury note of smoked ham, juicy cherries and rich wood. There's only one cask of this scotch whisky, so once it's bottled, there's no making it again.
12 Years in a First Fill Sherry Hogshead
Some casks earn a bottling of their own, and this one did. We laid it down on 13 June 2013 and left it to rest for 12 years at our distillery in a single first filled sherry hogshead, with nothing blended in along the way.
A first fill sherry cask gives more than any other, and this one gave everything it had. The oak drew out a deep gold-brown colour and rich wood notes, layered over Laphroaig’s savoury, smoky character, with hints of smoked ham and juicy cherries. No rushing it, no cutting corners. Just one cask, and time.
Rested on Islay
Like every Laphroaig, this is an Islay whisky, made and matured on the island we've called home since 1815. The cask spent its 12 years resting by the Atlantic, where the sea air and the salt work their way into the whisky over time. It's the kind of whisky tradition we've never had a reason to change.
There are quicker ways to make whisky. We've never been interested in them. Our whisky process takes its time, and Friendship Cask #1 is all the better for it: the smoke, the savoury edge, all there long before the sherry hogshead adds its dark, rich sweetness.
Whisky is Always Better Shared
Whisky is always better shared, and a single cask like this one is made for exactly that. There's one cask of it and no more, so it's the kind of bottle you open for the people whose company is worth a whisky this good.
Sharing Laphroaig is nothing new for us. It's how we've built a whisky community over the last 30 years, around a love for our smoky Islay single malt. So pour a dram, share it with a friend, and enjoy a whisky that will only ever be made once. Slàinte!
Friendship Cask #1 is the first in a series of three exclusive single casks from Laphroaig, released only to Friends of Laphroaig.
It is, and about as limited as whisky gets. This is a single cask, bottled on its own with nothing blended in, so there was only ever going to be a small number of bottles, and there will never be more. Once it's gone, that's it. It is exclusive to Laphroaig.com
Friendship Cask #1 is a little different - it's available exclusively to Friends of Laphroaig, through ballot only.
Friends of Laphroaig can enter the ballot on the above link to be in with a chance to purchase Friendship #1.

It shapes everything you taste. With just one cask, there's nowhere for the wood to hide, and a first fill sherry hogshead is the most active cask there is. That's what gives Friendship Cask #1 its deep colour, its savoury smoked ham note and the rich, dark sweetness of sherry that sits over our peat smoke.
