Tasting Notes

Colour

The sparkling gold appearance and narrow trails on the glass all signal rich character.

Nose

Peat smoke, seaweed scent and a 'medicinal' essence hit the nose with a hint of sweetness.

Palate

Surprising sweetness with hints of salt and layers of peatiness.

Finish

Long and lingering. Wait for the sweet seaweed afterglow.

Maturation

Matured for 10 years in ex-Bourbon barrels for smoothness and character inherited from charred oak.

A true taste from Islay

Laphroaig 10 is the definitive Islay peated single malt, distilled following traditions laid over the last 200 years by passionate master distillers. It’s a staple for connoisseurs and a peaty rite of passage. Its unique flavour profile is conjured from malted barley which is first cold-smoked over peat fires, like only a handful of distilleries.

The grain is then dried over those same fires and tossed on our malting floor facing out to sea. It spends the next 10 years in ex-Bourbon barrels. Because a full decade is what it takes to create our full-bodied 10 year old whisky with bold smoky flavour, notes of salty seaweed, and a lingering sweetness. Sip neat or over ice. Either way, you’ll be drawn in by its quintessential Islay charm.

More Ways to Experience the 10 Year Scotch

The bold, unmistakable character of Laphroaig whisky 10-year comes from time, tradition, and the wild island of Islay. Layered with smoke, sea salt and a touch of sweetness, it’s a scotch that speaks its mind—and has done for generations. But this ten-year aged whisky isn’t just one way. There are different expressions of that same soul, each with its own voice.

For those who like it neat and undiluted,  Laphroaig Batch 17 of our 10 Year Old Cask Strength delivers the full power of peat and oak. Bottled straight from the barrel, it's whisky turned up to eleven—louder, deeper, unapologetic. Laphroaig Batch 16 offers a different kind of intensity. Still bold and smoky, but wrapped in subtle vanilla and rounded spice. A more measured step on the same rugged path. And for something with a twist of richness, the 10 Year Old Sherry Oak Finish brings dried fruit and warming sherry notes into the mix—familiar, but with a sweeter edge.

Same age. Same island. Three bold perspectives on what Laphroaig 10-year single malt scotch can be.

The Islay Standard

Laphroaig is the baseline by which all Islay whisky tends to be judged. Just about every decent bar has it, and for good reason - it’s complex, peaty, medicinal flavor sets the tone for “love it or hate it” Scotch. Affordably priced, the quality is always there. I usually keep at least two bottles in my bar, because it’s one of the most reliable drams around.

It is home

If one can fit in a bottle, then this is home for me. The smell of peat feels like mom' s good old home cooking that warms the heart and satisfies our palate. The smell of the ocean is undeniable. It is like having drinks at the bar with Aquaman before he brushes his teeth. Slainte!

Smoky, peaty, delicious

Laphroaig can be quite polarising, and I'll admit, I can see why... This is VERY peaty, and if you're not expecting it, can be a bit much for first-timers or non-scotch drinkers. Do stick with it, though, as this gives way to a sweetness and smokiness that you won't find in many other scotches. Highly recommend you give it a blast.

A Whisky for every Situation.

Easily enjoyable without being too strong. But if you want to, you can take your time tasting this Whisky, starting with the sweetness, down to the intense smoke. Rich, well balanced and affordable.

Going in that direction

Very grilled eggplant and some first aid, even salicylic acid. In the back we have smoked paprika, some mango and freshly dug peat. Taste is predominantly pineapple, some passiflora with a generous dose of bitter smoke. No need for cocktailing, just a little, a wee of water to be exact.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Laphroaig is the best

The Laphroaig 10 is my favorite whiskey. Of course there are more complex whiskeys, but this one fascinates me with its rough peat smoke, its notes of iodine and salty sea breeze, and that forever. Laphroaig, for me it's not a drink but a way of life
