10 Year Old Sherry Oak Finish
Tasting Notes
Colour
Tawny and auburn tones.
Nose
'Medicinal' notes of peat smoke and Manuka honey with strong cloves, leather, iodine and smoky bacon.
Palate
Sweet and aromatic with rich waxy notes. Followed by toffee, maple syrup, dark chocolate, pine needle and cedar.
Finish
Lingering sweetness and smouldering peat smoke with nuttiness and a hint of brine.
Maturation
Aged in ex-Bourbon barrels and European Oloroso sherry oak casks.
PEATY SWEETNESS YOU WON'T FORGET
Finished in European sherry oak casks for a particularly memorable single malt. This unique expression begins with the same time-honoured process that goes into our regular 10 Year Old Laphroaig®. After drawing rich character from ex-Bourbon barrels, the spirit then rests in casks previously filled with sweet Oloroso sherry. Each barrel is hand selected to add extra complexity to our quintessential single malt. It’s what layers notes of Manuka honey and grilled bacon onto our renowned flavours of peat smoke and seaweed.

i now have two favourite whisky's

Having stuck quite rigidly to my favourite dram the Laphroig 10 year old Single Malt drinking other whisky's only to compare in an (unfavourable) and unashamedly biased manner, I was thrilled with this gem of a dram. A lovely change from my usual the Sherry Oak Finish left me gutted that I could not as per normal make an unfavourable comparison. with my favourite! (Now I have two favourites). It has a lovely sweet taste and is very easy on the palate, Mt partner who does not drink whisky sipped on this one and I was gobsmacked when she turned and said "That's Nice" Tell me? does this mean I have to start hiding the Bottle.... PS I don't write reviews... This being a first and only because it was so well deserved.. Off now to sir down and enjoy my wee tipple or twa.. Fraz
