Bottled at natural cask strength of 58.9%, Laphroaig® Càirdeas 2021 is aged in ex-Bourbon barrels, quarter casks and Pedro Ximenez hogsheads. Created specially for Friends of Laphroaig.

Friendship is the perfect reason to raise a dram, wouldn’t you agree? Well that’s exactly what every Càirdeas release is about. After all, it means "friendship" in Gaelic. Laphroaig® Càirdeas 2021 delivers 58.9% vol, complex flavours and layered aromas. The triple maturation process for this limited edition single malt whisky starts with our classic aging in ex-Bourbon barrels before being transferred to quarter casks. The spirit then goes into Pedro Ximenez casks - more precisely sherry hogsheads. Once extracted, the whisky is filtered and bottled at natural cask strength, creating an experience akin to tasting whisky at the source. Our famous flavours of peat smoke and seaweed are joined by sweet notes of Manuka honey and oak spice. The finish is long, warm and intriguing — as conversations between Friends over a dram of Laphroaig® often are.

Tawny

Nose

Medicinal, nutty and sweet with notes of pine tar, strong almond and marzipan, hazelnut and praline character combine with candyfloss, stewed apple and toffee but also cherries, gooseberries and cinnamon.

Palate

Smoky and peaty with slightly ashy notes of cured ham and grilled bacon, sweet and fruity flavours of Manuka honey, liquorice roots, but also cooked apples, malt and oak spices edging toward pencil shavings..
