Càirdeas 2025
Colour
Antique Gold.
Nose
Sweet, herbal, and boldly peaty. A superbly fruity expression with aromas of apricot, peaches in syrup, and lemon cream, combined with a hint of coconut and a vanilla fudge sweetness. A hint of freshly mown grass and tangy basil is also present, with a slight trace of tobacco and white pepper.
Palate
Opening with an extraordinary explosion of peat with a salty sea spray, followed by a peppery sparkle on the tongue. Notes of lemon zest, salted limes, and caramel dominate, leading on to more herbal notes of fresh mint and rich tea leaves in the background. Delicate spices emerge, including cumin, cloves, and ginger, whilst you encounter an almost antiseptic sensation on the palate.
Finish
A long-lasting finish with a citrus sweetness and an everlasting, clove-like aftertaste.

A very special Càirdeas
Càirdeas. It’s Gaelic for “Friendship”, and it’s the perfect word to sum up what this bottling is all about. Every year we share a new, unique release just for this series, and Càirdeas 2025 Lore Cask Strength is one for the history books.
By taking a fan-favourite Laphroaig whisky – Cask Lore – and making this cask-strength version, we’ve been able to keep a little something special aside just for our most dedicated Friends. It’s created by marrying together five of our favourite whiskies, all of which has its own unique story to contribute. The result is a wonderful and intense Scotch, that was a pleasure to share with our Friends at this year’s annual whisky festival on Islay, Fèis Ìle – and that was just the beginning.
Càirdeas 2025 Faq
Càirdeas means friendship in Gaelic. It is Laphroaig’s annual limited edition whisky release, created to celebrate the FoL community and the spirit of Islay.
Càirdeas 2026 can be enjoyed neat, with a few drops of water, over ice, or in a simple whisky serve. However you choose to enjoy it, give it a little time in the glass to let its smoky, savoury and fruity notes open up.

Càirdeas 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of Fèis Ìle, making this year’s release a particularly special celebration for Islay, its whisky and its community.
Each Càirdeas expression offers a different take on Laphroaig character. Càirdeas 2026 stands out as a bold first for the distillery, fully matured in French oak, bringing a new dimension of structure, spice and complexity to Laphroaig’s unmistakable peat and Islay character. By contrast, Càirdeas 2025 was released as Lore Cask Strength — a cask-strength interpretation of Cask Lore, created by marrying five of Laphroaig’s favourite casks for a rich, layered and deeply characterful dram.

In Laphroaig Lore Cask Strength, the peat smoke feels more layered than ever. It builds from bright, zesty and slightly salty top notes into warmer hints of spice, wood and pepper, before settling into that deep, antiseptic richness of Islay peat. At cask strength, nothing holds it back, so the smoke isn’t just more intense, it evolves across the palate, revealing different sides of Laphroaig with every sip.
Start neat. At cask strength, it delivers the whisky exactly as it comes from the barrel, bold, concentrated, and full of character. From there, add a few drops of water to open it up. You’ll notice the smoke shift, and more subtle notes begin to emerge. It’s a whisky that rewards taking your time with it.
Càirdeas 2025 is bottled at cask strength to give you Laphroaig with even more depth. This release brings together five favourite Islay Single Malt whiskies across different casks to create a layered, complex profile, and keeping it at cask strength allows those intense flavours to come through in full.
