The Wall 39-Year-Old Rope Edition: Islay Experience
The Islay Experience
Join us for an unphorgettable experience at Laphroaig! Your day will begin at 9:00 AM with our VC Assistant picking you up from Islay Airport or your accommodation. At 9:30 AM, enjoy teas and coffees in the Laphroaig Bar, accompanied by delicious breakfast pastries. At 10:00 AM, we'll take a scenic walk to our water source, where you'll savor our 10Year Old whisky paired with cheese at 10:30 AM. Following this, indulge in a tasting of our exclusive 30 Year Old at the Friends of Laphroaig Plots at 11:15 AM. Experience a fascinating distillery tour at 11:45 AM, and if the timing aligns with our production schedule, help our Production team fill a cask at 12:45 PM. Lunch will be served in the Laphroaig Lounge at 1:00 PM, followed by a tasting of one of our prestige whiskies at 2:00 PM. Finally, our Visitor Center Assistant will escort you to your next destination at 3:00 PM, tailored to your preferences.

Aroma
Spicy and rich with toffee, cranberry and dark red cherry. Polished leather, sweet molasses and mandarin orange.
Taste
Gentle smokiness with notes of treacle toffee, candied orange peel and hazelnut.
Finish
Long and smooth with smoked orange toffee, oak and mixed spice.
Maturation
Matured in Oloroso Sherry seasoned European oak hogshead maturation and finished in a Pedro Ximénez Sherry seasoned European oak butt.
Inspired by the journey of sherry casks to our distillery
Building on the success of the collection's first instalment, which focused on our Islay peat, the second release in this limited-edition collection is titled Rope. This nautical theme is inspired by the journey of sherry casks to our distillery on board the region’s storied puffer boats.
The hand-painted design evokes the boats’ ropes, which would connect the world of sherry to our stretch of the Islay shore. It’s a theme evoked in the flavour profile of the bottling, which combines the influence of different sherry casks with our unmistakable Islay peat.
A beautiful green bespoke painted bottle
Encased in a beautiful green bespoke painted bottle, each one-of-a-kind item has been uniquely completed by hand by award-winning British artist and ceramicist, Laura Carlin. While she usually works with books or ceramics, Carlin enjoys bringing stories to life around three-dimensional objects, and so there’s a natural fit for her to bring our distillery history to life through The Wall Collection.
To really evoke the spirit of this crucial part of our distillery building, Carlin used the exact paint that our warehouse painter Sammy uses every year to top up the paint on the iconic LAPHROAIG lettering that stands emblazoned on the wall of Warehouse No.1. Sammy knows a thing or two about that wall, having been keeping it in good nick since he first applied a lick of paint to it as an apprentice at 15 years old.
