Tasting Notes
Colour
Dark, rich copper in colour
Nose
Brazil nut toffee brittle, with sweet vanilla custard notes and baking spice, followed by milk chocolate covered raisins and a suggestion of spiced orange.
Palate
Rich, sweet and oily on the palate, with notes of smoked orange toffee, stewed peaches and smouldering campfire. Dried fruit notes balanced with hints of coffee grounds and liquorice root for a long lasting and slightly herbal finish.
Finish
Long, slightly sweet and dry with a long, slightly peppery peat-rich smoky finish.

The release of our Càirdeas expressions is our favourite time of the year, not least of all because it goes hand in hand with Fèis Ìle, the renowned festival on Islay. 2024’s Càirdeas Cask Favourites brings together two iconic past releases in a bold and distinct flavour and is, as always, in honour of our Friends.
This 10-year-old Càirdeas edition celebrates 30 years of Friends of Laphroaig with casks from two well-loved Càirdeas releases: 2019’s Triple Wood and 2021’s PX Cask. This is a Laphroaig that matches our iconic smokiness and minerality with fruitier, sweeter qualities from the choice of cask

Laphroaig Càirdeas 2024 Cask Favourites is a 10-year-old Islay single malt Scotch whisky. Created to mark 30 years of Friends of Laphroaig, this limited edition brings together the bold character of Laphroaig with flavours shaped by two much-loved past Càirdeas releases.
Càirdeas 2024 Cask Favourites is shaped by a layered cask recipe that brings together bourbon barrel depth, quarter cask intensity, and Pedro Ximénez sherry sweetness. That combination adds fruitier, sweeter qualities to Laphroaig’s iconic smokiness and minerality, creating a special edition whisky with cask richness, Islay power, and a memorable 52.4% ABV strength.
Our Càirdeas 2024 takes inspiration from two Friends of Laphroaig favourites: 2019’s Triple Wood and 2021’s PX Cask. It brings those cask influences together in one limited edition, paying tribute to the releases our Friends know well while creating something distinct for 2024.
On the nose, expect rich, sweet, and nutty aromas. Càirdeas 2024 opens with Brazil nut toffee brittle, vanilla custard, and baking spice, followed by milk chocolate covered raisins and a touch of spiced orange. It is generous and inviting, with the sweeter cask influence sitting alongside Laphroaig’s unmistakable character.
The finish is long, smoky, and peat-rich, with a slightly sweet and dry edge. A gentle pepperiness carries through at the end, leaving behind the bold Laphroaig smoke, cask sweetness, and a lasting sense of Islay character.
