Made on Islay, using techniques honed within these walls and protected from prying eyes, Lore draws from an archive of rare whiskies matured in our Atlantic storehouse. Windswept, salt-laced and unapologetically bold.
A complex marriage of single malts aged 7 to 21 years, matured in ex-Bourbon barrels, European oak, Oloroso sherry casks and quarter casks, each adding its own unmistakable mark. The result is layer upon layer of peat smoke and sea spray, balanced with dark chocolate and warming spice.

Laphroaig Lore is one of our richest and most complex Islay single malt Scotch whiskies. Created to honour the skills, traditions, and craft passed down through generations, it brings together rare single malts aged from seven to 21 years. The result is a powerful, layered Laphroaig, shaped by peat smoke, sea spray, dark sweetness, and the story of our whisky-making process.
This Lore from Islay is part of our iconic whiskies, rather than a one-off limited release. It is a fan-favourite classic, known for its layered and complex character. There are limited-edition whiskies inspired by Lore, such as Càirdeas 2025 Lore Cask Strength, but Laphroaig Lore itself is the original expression that brings this cask-led story to life.
Our Lore whisky is bold, complex, and unmistakably Islay. On the nose, it brings pungent peat smoke, seaside minerals, ash, and a hint of chocolate. The palate is lively and intense, with bitter chocolate, smoke, ash, and a chilli bite, followed by a short, dry finish with a lingering sweet aftertaste.
