Unmistakably Laphroaig
At Laphroaig, we celebrate our unique character through the flavour of our whisky. Everything we do is inspired by our home, Islay. From the distinctive peat which gives us our unique smoky character, to the uncompromised conviction of our people, making Laphroaig unmistakable.
Islay Ember
When we offered the Friends of Laphroaig community the chance to choose the finish – and the name – of a new and exclusive single cask whisky, we knew our collection of like minded whisky enthusiasts would come through with the goods.
Islay Ember is a truly magnificent testament to the power of working together to create something unique. Fully matured in Amontillado Sherry Casks, it’s a rich and complex rarity that’s worth savouring to appreciate to the full. The name alone is a wonder to behold (it had stiff competition from the likes of "Sherry McSmokeface" that certainly raised a few smiles here on Islay). 'The Taste'
Just like our Islay single malt, Willem leaves a lasting impression that’s always unforgettable. Especially when he’s encountering a dancing Barley Man…
We hope you enjoy the exclusive film we’ve made with Willem, in which he takes on one of his most ambitious artistic challenges yet: putting his finger on exactly what it is that makes Laphroaig taste so, well, Laphroaig.
A Taste of Islay in London
To celebrate this iconic partnership, historic London pub The Barley Mow was taken over and renamed ‘The Barley Dafoe’ in honour of the man himself.
The sudden, mysterious transformation in the middle of one of the capital’s most bustling areas was always going to raise a few eyebrows. Londoners were about to be baffled as Willem sipped a glass of our famous single malt, surrounded by friends (and Barley Men, of course).
TRULY ONE OF A KIND
The Distillers One of One auction brings together the entire Scotch whisky industry as distilleries from across Scotland contribute unique, never to be repeated one-off whiskies. Funds raised go to various causes, including vital work being done to improve the lives of young people in Scotland.
This year, we believe we’ve created a remarkable expression for auction. It’s a fine single malt that captures our distinct spirit, and houses it in a striking decanter that looks as bold as it is stylish. Distilled in 1980 and 1981, just before we brought our stills and condensers inside our stillroom in a major renovation, this is a little piece of a bigger history – and boasts the flavour profile to match. There can only be one buyer, because there can only ever be one Laphroaig Capsule 40-Year-Old.
Do something unphorgettable
If you’ve ever taught someone how to pronounce the name of our distillery, you’ll know just how important it is to who we are.
Now, in the name of fun and friendship, we’re inviting Friends of Laphroaig from all over the world to change their name to make it just that little bit more… unphorgettable.
